Door fell off! No replacement parts. Buyer Beware.

We had this microwave for about 5 years and had the matching gas range as well. When opening the door, it broke off of the frame and came crashing to the floor. Luckily the heavy glass door didn't shatter or hit anyone. Surprise, there isn't a replacement part for the door. Its a poor design with the heavy glass panel attached only with plastic and screws to the hinge frame. On top of that, you have to pull on the glass panel to open and close the door every time, weakening the attachment. The control panel for the range gave out and there were no replacement parts, but GE did give us a discount on a new range. Buyer beware all GE products.

At 5 years old, (orig $804), display fails. Must replace entire door for $450, but don't have the part, never will, no longer supported, no one else has it either. Offer discount on new unit of $681. Did pay $681 to replace Microwave (bought extended warranty). If parts fail now only option is full replace. Seems crazy. Unit looks good and works fine but lack of parts/support is a deal killer.

We finally received our microwave after THREE attempts and missed appointments at the fault of the delivery company. Once installed, the microwave oven light doesn™€™t come on. The repairman said the ceramic housing, holding the light, was cracked and needed to be replaced. The part has arrived, still waiting™€¦ and waiting on the repairman to return to install. The microwave is also very loud and doesn™€™t heat or thaw as efficiently as the 12!yr old one we replaced with this GE model.

First of all this microwave is beautiful. Two issues with it though. First the exhaust fan has 4 speeds but they are all so loud (even on low) you can™€™t hardly stand close to it. Secondly you have to open the door to get the control panel to light up. It should light up when you touch it.

Had to call for repair the day of installation because several key connections weren™€™t properly put together. Microwave randomly stopped, would flash on and off rapidly, and couldn™€™t keep proper time. Thankfully was a quick fix but made my wife and I question whether buying a higher end appliance was really worth it. Love the look. Time will tell regarding longevity and value for the higher price cafe™€™ platinum glass.

We bought this series, fridge, microwave, stove and dishwasher, almost 5 years ago and have had nothing but problems with all 4, the microwave door came apart last night. can a door replacement be sent??? We have had to replace the pump on the dishwasher, the ice maker and drawer slides for the fridge, the burners on the stove flame uneven and now the door on the microwave came apart last night. thought we were buying quality since GE has been in business for over 125 years. This is ridiculous!!! Would give zero stars if i could. Fix this GE!

I have proof of the planned obsolescence game GE is playing. My first model was manufactured in 2020. After 3 years the plastic part at the top broke off. Wasn™€™t going to pay $100 to replace it (have you seen how much parts cost? They want you to buy a new microwave) . It finally died after 4 years, so I ordered the same model because that™€™s what fit in my space above the stove. This second model was manufactured in 2025. Plastic and overall build is cheaper than the first one. Warranty is only 1 year. They don™€™t build these too last. Sad thing is this isn™€™t a $300 microwave, but they are making it feel like one. They changed the inside space to be left aligned (if that makes sense), so there is this entire 14™€ block on the right that holds the parts but in a very awkward looking layout. You can also tell how cheap the plastic is by the sound d it makes when you close the door. Those tabs will not make it into year 2. Hey GE - nobody asked for WiFi. Just make a better product

The microwave is aesthetically pleasing and performs well. The vent is powerful enough for our gas range BTU outputs. We changed all four appliances to same platinum glass and it works well in our kitchen. Only drawback in this microwave is to 'activate' the buttons when microwave is off to say start the vent. Opening and closing the door activates the button. Touching the pad is still a learning curve on where to touch to activate the lighted buttons. Overall good microwave.

Installation was perfect. The microwave looks fabulous. I love the sweetness of the exterior and that the controls are not always visible, but easily pulled up. Love that I can connect it to my stove and have the lights and fans turn on automatically when I turn on a burner. By the way, they turn off automatically after a while not sure how long. Totally worth it!

Extremely disappointed with our microwave! We bought in 2021 and are now having all the issues that are mentioned on previous reviews. We hardly ever use it since we prefer to warm things up on the stove and we hardly eat at home. A few days ago, I decided to use and all of a sudden started to smoke and left the whole house smelling terrible that it took a few days to clear. Also the touchpad control panel will not recognize when I select an option making me try several times and in different ways to finally select an option. Another issue is that I receive messages throughout the day saying that the microwave has ™€œfinished cooking™€ when nobody is even at home. I did call customer service hoping that it had some kind of warranty, but of course not. My only option was to schedule a service appointment that I have to pay for to see what the issue is. Then pay for the repair. Unfortunately I cannot go with another brand since, all my appliances were purchased at the same time and are matching.

Mainboard gives up too quickly!

the microwave itself aesthetically is gorgeous, however after less than a year of purchasing it through Home Depot it quit heating up food. We tried to get HD to fix it but they said we were no longer under warranty. Anyhow, my husband is an electrician and went through youtube videos to see what could possibly be wrong he attempted a couple of pieces they said could cause it not to work. Final piece was the Main board he was able to figure it out and fix it eventhough he does not work with electronics, so it is a good thing being an electrician he has a sense for figuring things out. The main board was about $200 through GE. As expensive as this microwave was when we purchased it I do not recommend it since it is definitely quick to break down. Needless to say wer were very disappointed.

It's a microwave. The door is pretty. Large, it is literally the WHOLE front. So have a healthy amount of space to step back when you open it. I do love how it "talks" to my cafe induction stove top, so when I turn on the stove, the light and fan automatically come on. You can adjust this, so currently we only have the light automatically coming on.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with th

I™€™ve had nothing but issues with this microwave since the day I received it, and I am incredibly frustrated with the ongoing problems. Over the first few months, the repair technician visited my home at least eight times. Then, recently, the microwave started smoking and emitting a terrible smell, so I called for another repair. They identified the heating element as the issue, but when the replacement part arrived, it was damaged. After the third repair technician came, they discovered additional problems. The next technician installed all the parts, but when the microwave was turned on, it started making loud noises and smoking ™€" making the situation much worse than when the repairs began. At this point, I was told that it would be replaced, but when I called to follow up, I was told the issue was due to a "manifestation defect" and that it wasn™€™t covered under warranty. I™€™ve done nothing to damage the microwave, and it™€™s clear that something from the manufacturer caused these repeated issues. Now, after all the trouble, I am being told I need to buy a new one. This whole experience just doesn™€™t seem right, and I™€™m extremely disappointed in the lack of resolution and poor customer service.

So far so good. I have only used the microwave for about 2 weeks so it is a little early to say much about it. Everything seems to work but I am still discovering what all the cooking modes can do and when they are needed. I only hope this GE microwave lasts as long as my older GE microwave which I bought in 1992. Installation, which I did myself, was easy. Now looking forward to years of use.

Too soon!

So far, I like my new Cafe over the oven Microwave. However, I've only had it 1 month so it's a bit too soon to give a full assessment of it's long term quality.

Love this microwave! Great size and easy to use. The under the microwave light is bright. The best part is that the entire front of the microwave is glass, so it it easy to clean.

Works really well - heats and reheats quickly and efficiently. It™€™s beautiful and looks great in my kitchen. Some of the programmed options have limited choices (i.e. the steam option) that leaves me guessing.

Microwave is beautiful- but has technical issues

I think the microwave is beautiful and I love the capabilities that it SHOULD HAVE, however, the problems started immediately. From the day we received it, the buttons were wonky and working sporadically. I had techs over two or three times and they told me it was operator error on my part. That I needed to have 'dry' fingers, or touch more lightly, etc. I would regularly get messages from the microwave on my cell stating "your microwave is finished cooking" when no one was home. Finally, the last tech said the wiring and connection to the door was the real problem and now the part needed is no longer available. And, it's out of warranty. From reading previous reviews, this is a product issue and I'm not the first to have an issue with it. I'm so disappointed.

UNFIXABLE FLAWED DESIGN

I am so disappointed in this ™€œhigh end™€ microwave. The last few months the keypad has been slow to react and then I got the message ™€œkeypad shorted service needed™€ Everything I am reading online seems to point to this is a design flaw and GE isn™€™t taking care of customers on it. A $1000 microwave should last 10 years plus, not 2 years! GE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND WARRANTY ALL MICROWAVES WITH THIS ISSUE!!!!
